The new 2020 Managed Security Report is here, and we’re eager to share it with you. The report includes the latest trends and data points to help you benchmark how your own organization is doing. It also has insights into why and how organizations invest in managed security services, and the security capabilities companies are prioritizing.
Delta Risk partnered with our colleagues at Cybersecurity Insiders to produce this report. The results are based on responses from hundreds of cyber security and IT professionals to a comprehensive online survey.
Among the findings:
- A majority of organizations confirm that security programs are still primarily operated in-house (54 percent).
- The top three security operations challenges include the perennial shortage of cybersecurity skills in-house (51 percent), followed by the cost and complexity of building in-house security operations (38 percent), tied with the lack of continuous 24×7 security coverage (38 percent).
- To respond to incoming cybersecurity threats, less than a third of organizations (27 percent) can only perform ad-hoc monitoring with IT professionals as the need arises.
The results highlight that despite security being named as a top priority by over half of the organizations surveyed, those organizations still face significant hurdles and challenges towards implementing their security objectives. But managed security services are emerging as a practical, cost-effective option to close the cybersecurity staffing and competency gap and improve organizations’ overall security posture.
